About

How is support provided?

Through an application and evaluation process, we pay bills directly for vital living needs like rent, mortgage, utilities, car expenses and more. We also provide gift cards for food and gas.

Through an application and evaluation process, we meet every Tuesday to review new applications and check in with the families we’ve been helping. Bills are paid as early as Thursday of that week.

our mission

Vickie's Angel Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit with a mission of helping families fighting cancer who have difficulties paying their bills during the challenging times of undergoing cancer treatments. Our goal is to take away the financial worry from the family, providing a temporary bridge that allows them to focus entirely on beating their disease.

In some cases, it is an immediate financial hardship that must be taken care of.  Our financial help is for non-medical expenses focusing on the basic necessities to survive. Examples are rent/mortgage payments, car expenses, food expenses, and utility expenses.

None of our money raised goes to research. It all goes to the families. We let them know that we are only temporary and not permanent. Our goal is to get them into a financially stable position.

OUR STORY

Vickie’s Angel Foundation (previously Vickie's Angel Walk) was established in memory of Vickie Minnich by her husband Mickey and their two sons Michael and Jason; as well as many close family and friends in July of 2003. Vickie fought a courageous battle with cancer for five months, but became an Angel on May 21, 2003. The first walk was held the same year in October at New Cumberland Borough Park. The word Angel was chosen because each night, in April and May, Vickie and Mickey would play an Angel Symphony which was spiritually soothing. Each night, they asked God to send one of his angels to heal Vickie - thus Vickie’s Angel Walk was created.  Due to the growth of the Walk, and the addition of many other events over the past 14 years, the organization is now known as Vickie's Angel Foundation.  The Foundation's signature event, Vickie's Angel Walk, has helped raise over $4,000,000 for more than 2,000 families in need.
